Although not as iconic as Minninglow, Aleck Low’s tree-crowned hilltop is still a prominent landmark. Seen from Mouldridge Lane, some miles to the east.

07/07. Scraper, blade & arrowhead found below Aleck Low on the slopes close to Upperhouse Farm SK179 593. Several Neolithic camps/settlements have been identified in this area and there have been a great many discoveries made here over the years.
The field is ploughed almost annually and a footpath crosses it.

Aleck Low

Standing next to a trig point on the prominent hill of Aleck Low this barrow is very disturbed. Several limestone kerbstones are visible around the outer edge of the mound.

The views over to Hawks Low and Minninglow are worth the short walk. Room to pull off the A515, just south of Newhaven, by the track/path that leads up the hill.

Round Barrow(s)

Thomas Bateman arrived at Aleck Low in 1843. His usual ‘partial’ dig of the mound uncovered a crouched burial, a cremation, pottery pieces and some flint artefacts.
