Snowdonia closed by snow !!!
Who da thunked it.
from the path down to the stone
Fach-Goch almost mirrors the peak of Cnicht
postman for scale
A must see – surely a choice of alignments with the peaks of Snowdonia forming a stunning panorama.
Easy to find but beware the surrounding land is very boggy!
From Prenteg go west, Park next to cattle grid and walk down hill following path to Hendre Hywel passit and another house and you can see it next to a wall.
This Menhir has one of the best views of any stone in Wales so long as one only looks east which is easily done with Cnicht(the Knight) and Moelwyn Mawr in the distance .
The stone is about 7.5 feet tall and very photogenic
A MONUMENTAL (?) STONE. -- On a small farm near Aberdunant, named Y Fach Goch, is to be seen a curious stone having a monumental appearance. The oldest inhabitant of the hamlet of Prenteg, Sian Griffith, who attained her ninety-fifth year in June 1886, tells a tale thereanent to the effect that it was talked of as having much gold beneath it when she was a girl. It was said that whoever should dig down to get it would raise such a storm of thunder and lightning as the world has never known, and that they would wish they were dead.
