Looking SSW. The green hill in the middle distance, centre, is Old Bewick hillfort. I think the ridge of hills on the far horizon may be Simonside.

Apart from the modern marker fashioned out of stone from the earlier monument, the rest of the structure is completely covered in heather.

‘Cist’ on display in Chillingham Castle, apparently found somewhere on Hepburn Moor. It’s a strange thing, not being the usual separate slabs put together to form a box, but rather a single stone scooped out to make a grave. I’ve no idea if it’s authentic, the castle is full of weird curios.
