I walked right past during the morning without sussing... however closer investigation reveals a pretty clear cut monument, as depicted upon the 1:25K map. Incidentally these are the power pylons that march across the northern Carneddau to Bwlch-y-Ddeufaen...

Like a vision from a Wellsian nightmare... this cairn has witnessed the rise to pre-eminence of electricity; as opposed to the subliminal power of the shaman. Yeah, to paraphrase those Germans with the glacial werkrate... electricity; is in the air for you and me.

Cairn above Ffridd Ddu
Round Cairn

Extract from Cadw Schedule descripton:

“Burial cairn probably Bronze Age, situated within open moorland below and to the N. of the Cras ridge of crags on the north-facing slopes of Moel Wnion. Stone built and circular in plan, measuring c. 10m in diameter and up to 0.6m in height. There are several hollows visible in its centre. F.F. 10/02/2004”.

OK, the dominating power lines are a little, ahem, distracting... however as a bonus site for those making a pilgrimage to Cras and/or Moel Wnion, the site is nevertheless of interest.
