The Egtved Girl’s burial mound (Storhøj)

Artificial Mound

When the Egtved Girl’s coffin was discovered in 1921, it was transported to the National Museum in Copenhagen, where it was opened under expert supervision. It remains there to this day.

Although most soft tissues decomposed, the girl’s hair, teeth, nails, a small portion of skin, and brain tissue survived. Dental analysis indicates she was 16–18 years old at the time of her death, stood about 160–165 cm tall, and had mid-blond hair.

Artificial Mound

Mound 3030102 is located just a few hundred metres from “Bakken”, the world’s oldest amusement park, which dates back to 1583. The photo was taken during the winter season when the park is closed. The park is open every day during the summer season, when admission is free.
