The Everstorfer Forst near Grevesmühlen features a remarkable ensemble of fifteen Neolithic megalithic tombs dating back to the Funnelbeaker culture between 3500 and 2800 BC. Visitors to this historic woodland can explore an exceptional variety of ancient burial architecture, ranging from simple small dolmens to massive communal passage graves and elongated earthen mounds enclosed by prominent stone borders.
The complex is divided into two main clusters that are separated by fields and forest trails. The easily accessible Southern Group is located right next to the B105 A-road, where an official parking lot and informative display panels welcome visitors to explore its five tombs.
Deeper in the forest to the northwest of Barendorf lies the Northern Group, where the remaining ten tombs are arranged in a fascinating, centuries-old linear alignment that stretches for several hundred meters through the quiet woodland.
