The significant footprint of the cairn at SO1963729254. Whether that is another upon the centre right skyline I’m not sure. Nothing on the map or Coflein.
Coflein cites several enigmatic unclassified ‘mounds’ upon the summit plateau of Pen Trumau. In my estimation these are not marker cairns (there are several obvious examples of those upon the main track) and appear to serve no purpose other than forming a diminutive prehistoric cairnfield. This example is at SO2036529304.
Fortuitous conditions highlight Pen Trumau (centre left) rising beyond the shoulder of Mynydd Troed with Waun Fach peering above (in shadow). Mynydd Llysiau can be seen to the right, with the bulbous summit of Pen y Gadair Fawr above. Viewpoint is Mynydd Llangorse.
SO1984629126 – toward Mynydd Llysiau (cairnless, but with field system and hut circles upon facing flank) and the very much be-cairned Pen Allt-mawr, top right.
The cairn at SO1984629126 – the southern end of Mynydd Troed’s long ridge can been seen across the cwm to the right, this also bearing the remains of a funerary cairn.
Highlighting the approx position of the pair of wondrous cairns upon the western flank of Pen Trumau.... looking from Mynydd Troed, itself possessing a probable Bronze Age cairn very near the southern terminal of its long ridge. Madame de la luna oversees all.
