Strangely enough, a similar argument has broken out in Cornwall this week, following a 'clean up' organised by CASPN at Madron Well. Largely due to the large number of clooties, many of which include non-organic materials.
There's usually some right tat at Madron (and Sancreed and St Euny's wells too), plastic string and wristbands, knickers, things with metal chains and fobs. I like the organic things actually (twine made from plant fibre, shells), but some of the stuff left there is awful. I imagine it's full of disposable masks these days!
At St. Patrick's Well and Chair in Tyrone recently a goodly amount of the 'offerings' were just that TSC, masks and face-coverings. Sign of the times I guess.
