Carneddi Llwydion (Cairn(s)) by GLADMAN Another view of the most impressive cairn (C). The Mam C's stance articulates the utter contempt we have for those local morons who choose to flytip, particularly at places such as this. On a lighter note... follow the power lines to Cwmeldeg

Dear oh dear, that's even worse than on my visit last year. Good cairns though. thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

That's just a small fraction, too. Perhaps there are local issues with charges etc? Regardless, the Mam was saying why drive all the way down - presumably in a 4x4 since the track is so poor - when the stuff could just have well been dumped beside the main road? This suggests a mentality that such, er, 'people' believe no one would possibly come to places such as this in a million years. Truly moronic.

As you and Carl will know only too well this problem is endemic in South Wales and I don't know what the answer is. Hidden cameras? Did we ever get responses from previous mails to the local authorities?

It is dreadful. I walked here from Pontypridd and then dropped down to Caerphilly, probably saw enough fly tipping for a small landfill. There was a lot of 4x4 activity around when I was there.

As well as matresses, etc, the worst was the litter in the big cairn at [[The Bryn]], complete with used hypodermic.

I don't know if Carl heard anything back. I recently emailed Cardiff about the blocked footpath at that chambered cairn near Llantrisant, the only response I got was to be told it wasn't in their area (even though it is, according to the maps on their own website).

Presumably too much of a challenge to forward the mail to colleagues in the right area? So they couldn't care less, in other words.

Might be a good idea - if the Eds are OK with it - to have a central Forum thread to keep track of stuff such as this as no other bugger's going to look out for these places.

That sounds like a great idea.

I will chase the footpath one, been a bit busy recently but it's annoying. I found the same locked gates as you did.
