Roughtor area - 1.4.2003

Unless you coming over from visiting Stannon, Louden Hill and Fernacre, the obvious place to start from is the Roughtor car park. As you walk up, ancient settlements pepper the landscape to your right and are well worth a detour. It’s a seemingly never ending walk up to the summit of Roughtor. It gets progressively steeper and seems to get further away. But it’s well worth it, despite a gale force wind. Fernacre Stone Circle can be seen from the South side of the Tor. I’ve added loads of other ancient sites in the wider area so no-one can ever complain there is only a good view to see and little more.

After an hour of this wind I started to find that I could hardly see anymore!
