This is the so called 'serpent' carving....a wavy line runs between the two prominent cups and there's a 'c' shape on there too. stubob Posted by stubob

There's a 'better' carvin at the base of the tree that overhangs the design you've got in your photo......same sorta idea with lines and cups....you have to kinda clear it of leaves and bluebells tho to see it all. stubob Posted by stubob
