Nice one. I didn't get to this on my visit to these hills. I will have to put it on my list. Did you find the "circle" by Garn Wen by any chance? |

Wait, what? Circle near Garn Wen? Tell us more! I still haven't found the Longtown circle either (supposedly up on the Hatterrall ridge). |

This was posted on the Megalithic Portal in 2010 as an entry in a book about the Black mountain monuments. Personally, I'm very dubious. Hidden in the ferns are lots of boulders, and the area of the suspected circle has all sorts. Now would be a good time to have a look as the ferns haven't begun re-growing yet. https://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=4252 It's quite odd, but even though I only live a few miles away I've hardly bothered with this area, including Hatterall ridge. |

| Hmm, sounds even less convincing than the Hatterrall one (which features in George Nash's "Prehistoric Sites Of Herefordshire"). There are some good cairns though, not always the biggest or best in themselves, but such great settings. Was back up on the north-western edges above Talgarth on Saturday, first Black Mountains trip for a few years now. |

| No, didn't get that far this time... you might perhaps one day come across a guy in a 4x4 mobility buggy who was apparently local... seemed to have a growing interest in prehistoric stuff which hopefully I might have helped. To be honest the 'circle' does look pretty dubious. Then again, there's the question of the 'other cairn' on Craig-ddu which I saw the first time around. That was convincing enough for me to assume it was the cairn on the map. |
