Cae-yr-Arfau

Chambered Tomb

Cae-yr-Arfau (Chambered Tomb) by thesweetcheat ... but it's illegally locked behind 7 foot gates by the landowner.

Ironically this was on the list to revisit last week... to see if anything had changed. Luckily, seeing this, the weather was better than forecasted and we went up Twmbarlwm instead.

You really can't make this up. OK, inconvenient for the landowner, but a public footpath is a public footpath? Don't buy a house with community heritage in the garden if you have a problem with people wanting to see it. Other owners across the UK (generally) don't act in this way.

Exactly. I walked all the way from Taff's Well via Garth Hill - not amused:( thesweetcheat Posted by thesweetcheat

Assuming you aren't going to leave it at this? With a hostile landowner the vibe would be rubbish but there is a principle here. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN

No, but the first contact with Cardiff Council hasn't been promising. First step is getting them to admit it's in their area at all!

May also try the Ramblers, tjj recently posted a link to a site to report blocked rights of way. And there's CADW and GGAT too.

Been too busy with work to really get any further, but it does need to be pursued.

Yeah. It'll be good to log all this stuff so we can start to be a thorn in the side of all this incompetence. Incidentally the rugby's been driving the Mam C 'round the bend this weekend. The extreme enthusiasm accorded a violent, masochistic public school game. To me it seems South Wales hides from reality. It could be great with such a heritage. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN
