if it's as bad as he claims it is, it's scandalous indeed

That's life !

At least the bugger hasn't been crushed for roadstone under an English Nature grant - as one of 'my' long cairns has been.

Are you still on that lunar standstill watchers' mailing list ?

Pete G,
I've read it, and it's a bit unusual. Obviously, I'd like to make it clear that it's nowt to do with me. With the name "Eternalidol" I wouldn't want anyone thinking it was a blog of mine. By the way, my name on this site comes from the title of one of my favourite Joy Division songs, not from the name of a certain "band".
Cheers,
The Eternal.

My word, he really does have an axe to grind! and if what he says is true it's a serious butt kicking issue. However, perhaps he would care to invite those he is so critical of to present their side of the case so we can get a balanced view, and then we can judge one way or the other if this is the scandal it appears to be.

Talking of judging... should I vote for Finland or Ireland... mmm perversion has the upper hand this evening and the orcs get my vote :-)

If the records are that important, rent a truck, take them home and be done with it. Otherwise, stop whining. Hundreds of archives of archaeological studies are going missing or being lost or are up for grabs in the States. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Came across the MA from Google for stuff on Stonehenge - great site! :)

Read the stuff about the archive scandal. Erk! A bit of Googling to find out more about it showed http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/archive/stonehenge_eh_2005/ that the stonehenge archive is in Salisbury museum with the finds, and you can download a of database of it all (but it looks like just tables of data). Doesn't sound ruined to me!

"The archive, including copies of the databases (on paper and CD), is held at Salisbury Museum, which also holds the majority of the finds and some original archive material." :-)
