Littlestone,
I reckon everyone on this site would really love to have the experience of seeing it as it was, and to have the chance to walk amongst the original Stonehenge (original as in when all the trilithons were erected). As it is we'll just have to be content with reconstructions in the form of the likes of Foamhenge, which would be best added to the proposed visitor centre, well away from Stonehhenge. How educational would that be? Plus it'd probably satisfy a good many casual tourists, who would then not bother going to the real stones, thus relieving the environmental pressures.
Regards,
TE.

Hah! We had a long discussion on "restoring" Stonehenge on the Stone Pages about a year ago, and that was exactly my proposal. A glitzy visitor center a mile from the stones. (Actually I proposed a series of permanent, exact replicas of the various phases. Would that be cool, or what?) Then, no transportation to the stones for the able bodied: instead, an interpretive path pointing out the other features in the area. Golf carts for the halt only.

The few intrepid souls who did make it to the stones could easily be monitored, and all who wanted could go among them any time. Most would be well satisfied with the reconstructions, especially since there would be many of them, and only one half gone tumbledown original.

Perhaps the title of this thread is misleading, or I wasn't clear in my opening post, but the original question asks whether a computer or graphic reconstruction of only the fallen stones at Stonehenge exists - not whether a full reconstruction (such as Foamhenge) should be attempted.

Should emphasise again that I don't think a partial restoration should be undertaken, just that it may be of interest to know what Stonehenge might look like if all existing stones onsite were back in their original positions.
