It's an engineering freak!
Is it known whether it's ever had to be straightened or re-erected?
If it's as it was, it's in line for some sort of record. There are bigger and taller obelisks, but are there any with such an extreme ratio between height and width? It would only need to shift an inch or two to become unstable.
All those years of winter storms...

It's around 4m tall and tapers alarmingly near the base. It looks as if it's been used for scratching at some point, but does not look as if it's ever been straightened. If something like this can resist a cow scratching against it then it must be deeeeeeep!
