No ditch that I could see, though. However, even allowing for spread following collapse, this was clearly a very wide piece of dry stone masonry. The enclosure up hill is much more of an enigma... can't help thinking it was more ritualistic than defensive. The Mam reckoned that, too. GLADMAN Posted by GLADMAN
