The drop's now fenced off ( postmans earlier review) so totally safe.
Heated lounge to chill in 24/7. A microwave and kettle free to use. 20p coin operated washer and dryer. USB charge and 3 pin in the lounge. People.just left their batteries etc onnchatge and went off for the day. No tea leaves here.
If on public transport it's a 10 minute walk to the travel depot in Stromness. The walk's through the narrow streets past the shops, cars use the road at a slow pace. Theres a Chinese chippy at half way. :)
The views are stunning. Across the water a short way Hoy looms large. The giant ferry sails by your tent. Orcas passed within plain view on my first day, then porpoises.
The site's at the end of a road so no through traffic. Being on the point though it gets windy. Theres a sea breeze cooling things a little.
Super helpful staff and very well placed to take in the show sites and lots of the beaten track.
Highly recommended, glad I chose it over the Kirkwall site which is 2 minutes walk from a large tesco! |
