From Ford’s standing stone walk back down onto the road, B840, and head north east into the village. If heading you are east take the left road just after the, now sadly closed, hotel. Follow the road until the tar finishes – the cairn will be in front of you if you look east.
The cairn has seen a bit of damage on the north side. Also the cairn’s central area has been ‘houked’ leading to the probable removal or destruction of the cist. If you tap the covering grass and dried stuff on the edge of the cairn you’ll also tap some survivng kerbs which keep a lot of the remaining small stones in place.
I can’t see Ford expanding size in any time soon so my old friend should be secure for some time yet. Fingers crossed!
Back to the car for the final stop of a lovely day.
