Aird Dun is very high on my list of favourite sites visited, it is certainly one of the most scenic. How it survives almost seems miraculous as it looks ready to fall down. Luckily if didn’t fall down during my visit and will be probably in the same place for centuries to come.

From the cist at Port Nan Athlaich walk almost a mile in an east south easterly direction. The walk is reasonably good going, on a sunny day, but has a fairly steep climb in the middle. On the top of the ridge you can see the dun, the only high ground on the coast line.

To enter the dun climb up a rocky path on the north west, some stones appear to be steps. The wall on the south west has fallen over the cliff, on the south east a well built 3 metre section survives. This and the rest of the ruined wall would have surrounded the 20m by 8m site.

Stunning views over Loch Craignish over to Ormaig. Some places of interest over there as well.
