Lovely set of photos. Something magical about old forests hidden under the sea, I suppose these trees were also part of Doggerland. Loads of photos and info here in Northumberland....
Thanks Moss...I find the place very atmospheric, for want of a better word: standing on what is, through rapid inundation and protective sand coverage, virtually the 7000yr old forest floor where our forebears walked and coppiced. Touching birch bark of that vintage is quite something.
I quite like wandering along raised beaches too, looking for unrecorded stuff just above the old shoreline. Found a nice slipway last year near a promontory fort. Mebe will get some better pix when back again near Stranraer in a fortnight.. can't keep away at the mo, ah, post-marital freedom..
