OK, perhaps I eulogise too much, what with being bathed in perfect light... but I swear I could’ve spent the night here, wrapped in a nice animal skin; or, failing that, a sleeping bag. Extraordinary vibe.

What a wonderful place Gladman. The light and colours are just lovely in your photos.
What a cracking place and shot(s). How did you find out about it? Imo such places may not have been used only for human habitation but as shelters for tethered guard dogs who would raise the alarm in the event of unwelcome intruders for nearby settlements on more favourable terrain. Just a thought.
I popped in after visiting the promontory fort above - and then stayed for two hours listening to the birds and trying to step back in time, so scuppering plans to go somewhere else.
You did the right thing......and Rhiannon's work in this area over the years for TMA is invaluable. She goes the extra mile, like yourself. Metaphysical pints to you both from moi. I didn't know about the fort above - my comment about the dogs may have been unwittingly bang on.. when field walking, or rather in this instance slope scrambling, I found recesses in the hillside and a small structure below what my archaeo aquaintance and myself agree was the probable site of the settlement that accompanied Ewden Beck cairnfield: I only sussed what they probably were yesterday after months of headscratching. Try to retro insert that into your timetravel memory of this place. I don't think there's a TMA doghouse category. Yet : )
