You've g o t to do Borth/Ynys Las. Haven't been since the storm in '14, was a surreal memory to treasure even before. Iirc there's been another one exposed up the Dovey estuary too. Have a google. And a belated Merry Christmas : )
A quick netsniff revealed these others visible sometimes: Dove Point nr Meols on the Wirral (very artistic tree stumps and entwined roots in pic I've just seen), and Mounts Bay/Portreath in Cornwall, Dartmouth Devon. I think Channel Islands too. Doubtless more if you search net longer. Dang, really need another dose of Ynys Las now...
Top stuff. Wish I could just take off for a few months and tour round these sorts of places and stones as well. I'm off to check my lottery ticket from last week, you never know :-)
I'm not sure there's usually an adequate category on TMA for these phenomena..you've got this forest in cos of the trackway. Haven't checked but don't think Ynyslas is listed..not a natural rock feature as such, and as you've mentioned Hightown's still squidgy.
You're right, I wouldn't have added the forest without a trackway being found there. Without the human connection, I guess it would fall outside of what TMA covers?
Praps this is something for Holy Mc to headscratch over? (BUT only when he's finished being festive) I haven't tested the other links yet. And my tech is obsolete anyway, dunno about Thelonious's - hopefully soon to be rectified courtesy of John Lewis sales, Premium Bonds win and happy customers prezzies : )
Just checked and other links work, so it's only the Ynyslas one. I didn't know it was possible to add sites to TMA without a category. Live and learn..
Wonderful T, simply wonderful. (Pittenderrich 2moro btw with a load of other stuff hopefully)
Thanks Drew. Hope you have a good day out tomorrow, hopefully not too cold! Be good to see the photos/read the fieldnotes :-)
Just got back from a few days away. Boiler's broken down, cold house :-( Still on the plus side, the beer and wine is nicely chilled.
Happy Christmas by the way.
Yeah Happy Christmas to you, what a lovely place that is. Broken down boiler sad to hear that tho :-(
Now that is magic
That's great, I love submerged forests. Happy Christmas to all of you :)
They are beautiful pictures. I didn't know what a submerged forest was..yet more richness added to my life. Sob, sob..am moved:) Ta.
Thanks folks and a merry Christmas :-)
I don't think I've come across submerged forests before. Be good to know of any others worth a visit?

Thanks spencer :-)
I'd love a trip to Wales next year. Hopefully maybe.
Wait! Two more! Newgale and Freshwater West, Pembrokeshire (faithful archaeolabretriever flops back on sofa wagging tail. Gizzus a scratch : ) )

Cantre'r Gwaelod is the Borth/Ynys Las one
Just clicked on the Borth/Ynys one and it says 404 not found
Thanks TSC. I like the look of these.
Works for me Spencer, but search for Borth and you'll find it, or go to the Ceredigion county page.
I can't find Borth either TSC. 404 on the link and searching Borth brings up 4 sites for me, none of which is Borth.
Weird! Works for me still.

All links working for me now :)
