The most westerly of the stones back towards the entrance.
The most westerly of the stones back towards the entrance.
Along the eastern arm of the court towards the entrance.
The whole thing is being colonised by trees. This shot is taken from the south-east.
The forecourt of the tomb. My mate was heard to mutter: “This is some mad Lord of the Rings shit here.” He wasn’t wrong.
There is just the right amount of space between the monument and the surrounding forest plantation.
The tomb, as we first saw it, at the bottom of the fire-break.
Longside Moor ring cairn. It’s really hard to get a photo of this, but it’s obvious when you’re there, as long as you know what you’re looking for. Otherwise it just looks like a farm-related pile of soil. The manure heap next to it doesn’t help. But it is pretty substantial, and quite sad. Maybe some sunshine and summer would make it feel less depressing. 1.2.2026

A stone in the modern wall that truncates the northern side of the chamber must be from the tomb or may even be in its original location.
West along the southern wall of the chamber with a precariously poised sidestone prominent.
Looking over the chamber of this badly ruined court tomb.
The backstone of the chamber is in the foreground of this shot.
Looking almost north-east with the mass of Knockmore in the distance.
The only visible stone is to the right of the base of the tree.
There’s a structural stone to the left of the tree. I think it’s a chamber sidestone but I’m not sure. The monument is is danger of being lost forever.
