| Quite apart from the damage to the lichen and vibrations to a sensitive ancient monument, the loss of serenity at an ancient monument, etc, that lane is TOTALLY unsuitable for HGVs. If the scheme goes ahead (and I sincerely hope it doesn't!) if it wasn't widened somebody *WILL* get killed. There is currently no place for visitors to turn their vehicles safely, so right now its dangerous enough what with people having to do three-point turns in the lane. Visitors (many with children, elderly rellies and doggies) cross the road to see the King Stone and the view down to Long Compton :-( We'll be waiting for the first fatality! And if it is widened - where the HELL will the extra with come from?! Chippy Norton council should be ashamed for even suggesting it! Grrrrrr!! Very cross. Can't get to the meeting tomorrow unfortunately as I have to be somewhere else.
