Weill's disease?

Yes, it's carried by rats piss (no, not Fosters or XXXX, even though they fit the description). You catch it by being in water with said rats piss in it, and having a cut on you through which you get infected.
More serious to TMA-ers is Lyme Disease. It's carried by ticks, which latch on to you and feed on your blood. They're titchy, and are aquired by walking through bracken, long grass and heather, or in forests, in summer, most of which a good, honest TMA-er will encounter in any normal year. Some areas are wick with them, other neighbouring areas have none.
In certain areas of Scotland it's suggested that after a day out it's worth having your most intimate crevices inspected by a very good friend, who will perform the ultimate sacrifice by removing any unwanted ticks, no matter how far in they've lodged themselves, the little rascals.
I've picked loads up in the Lake District, me.
Happy inspecting,
TE.
