Hello, a new modern antiquarian, i visited Hetty Pegler's Tump last weekend. Quite an experience, there is a hole in the left hand inner chamber which i was able to put my hand in all the way to my forearm. I found some modern ritual objects which i left alone i hasten to add,and when i drew my arm out, my brother checked it out too. when we left the chambers we both found our hands were tingling and we had some white chalky marks on our hands. can anyone tell me what the holes might have originally been used for? And what sort of modern day ritual practices that might occur? what was the substance? i thought perhaps some kind of calcification of rocK? many thanks in advance for any answers!
