the first time i visited avebury i also stayed overnight at the red lion, needless to say i fell in love with the place (avebury that is), but the young man who cooked us breakfast took great pride in telling us that although he had worked there for sometime he had never once walked amongst the stones and couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
