Do you know any more about the 'history'? The article you linked to

suggests Gerry Bracken spotted it. but he calls it 'St Patrick's Chair' - which could be a nice indication that people in the past knew about it. Perhaps. I mean most rock art doesn't get a name does it? ( the Patrick's Chair most people know about it is some rocks up the mountain, one of the stops on the pilgrimage.)

There is a small, ancient looking cross carved in a charmingly discrete area of the outcrop, near but not encroaching on the rock art. The carvings have been known aboutbfor a very long time. If they were ever forgotten.
