This http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/1788 is a bit of fun and very close to Dalkey. Good directions to it from here: http://www.megalithomania.com/show/site/317

I've never had a problem at Newgrange. I agree with the others here though, Knowth http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/897 and Dowth http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/970 are musts if you are going to be in the vicinity. Have fun!

p.s. Vicster is a her, not a him. :-)

And don't forget Ballybrack

Glad you noticed!!!

When we were at Newgrange we were advised that Dowth was closed and that "you might" be able to peek in a wee bit but there wasn't any access, so not sure what you actually see.
According to this: http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/HistoricSites/East/BrunaBoinneVistorCentreNewgrangeandKnowth
Knowth closes end of October which seems ridiculous since they are both accessed only via the visitor centre. Nwegrange is still worth a visit though.

My extremely lengthy and self-indulgent weblog about our 5 day trip to Ireland may help you out with some other sites in the area http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/user/1216/weblog

Have fun!
