What are the Irish OS maps like? Are they different from the English/Welsh/Scottish series?
This would be useful for me to know as I am hoping to get to Ireland later this year (Cork via the stone circles and up to Dingle Bay to see the lovely dolphin.)

Wow, don't miss Slea Head and Inch Peninsula, there's an odd little standing stone on the'Head, although non-megalithic! It was left by those who filmed Ryans Daughter, with a carved film reel on it.

Have fun, dead envious I am, beeeyoootiful place must go back there.

Irish OS maps are like the UK ones ... with one small exception ... erm ... the only footpaths marked are the sort of 'walking trails' that they have.

I don't know if Ireland is blessed with the good old 'right of way' like the UK or not. If it is then they aren't shown on the maps. There seem to be no 'public footpaths'. I am still to find out exactly what that's all about.

Most tombs and stones are shown.

Northern Ireland maps are made by a different bunch so I don't know about the detail in those ones.

I also forgot to mention Foot & Mouth restrictions are still in place in some areas. Today twice I was stopped in my tracks by the dreaded sign. Best to check ahead if posible.
