Now that raises an interesting point. Why? Everything else is round or curved, and it is easier to make a roundhouse based on a central post that a square one, with less joints to make etc. Round also offers protection all the way round, whereas roofing tends to run in a straight line from the apex, and you end up with underprotected ends.
Besides, round rooms are just cool !
