Thankyou for taking my name from the post.

I still feel that i am correct in saying "over reaction", Mr Locke did not have the full facts, he now has the facts. If you have sent me the email before posting i could have spoken to Mr Locke and given him details of my visit, what i did, who i spoke to etc..then this situation would not have happened.

If you want i will post my email from Mr Locke, I am sure that if you had read it, then you would not have posted the item you did.

I did ask permission at one of the houses past the farm, the owner of the house gave their permission, believing it was okay to do so.Mr Locke now understands this, and accepts that is was a error on the part of the person i asked.
I did not uncover all of the panels that were shown, most of the panels were already uncovered, with only a small section having the turf removed. The turf i removed was replaced. Mr Locke again accepts this and perhaps did not see the outcrop before my visit, which would have shown most of the rock i photographed already exposed.

I have accepted an invitation from Mr Locke, where i shall be explaining in more detail about this matter.

My main problem here is that i was not informed there was any such problem by TMA, if i had been asked about it, or if i had been given the email by Mr Locke i would have been able to resolve the matter without any problems. You accepted and posted something without having the full facts, i have not done anything wrong, i have had no apology. You may not think this is a big issue, well for me it is, the one thing i do pride myself on his have good relations with farmers, and i do ALWAYS ask before going onto private land. If i remove turf i always replace it.

You are certainly welcome to visit any site with me, observe my methods etc...

In that case you should appreciate why, when we receive a letter from a farmer we have to take it seriously. A lot of landowners that contact us can be very abrupt, but this was not the case this time. Despite his concerns he still stated that he was happy to take people to see the panels. When you have a farmer who's clearly on side he shouldn't be ignored.

You should have recieved a copy of the email in advance. As I said earlier, I'm not sure why you didn't. If you had read the post by Ed carefully, it only stated that you had got the location of the stones incorrect. It did not accuse you of entering the land without permission or of exposing the rock art to the weather, although, as you've already mentioned, the email did. All it says is that the farmer "does not want people entering the fields on their own and pulling the vegetation from the rocks, exposing the marks to the weather." You obviously don't see it this way, but that was actually a diplomatic way of dealing with it. You weren't directly accused of anything more serious than not finding the right bit of stone and the farmer was kept happy so that others might go there in the future.

Perhaps once you have revisited the site you can post details of which farm you should actually ask at. Then the whole post can be removed.

Thanks

TMA Ed
