When me and Subbi went last year it was very strange.
We found the remains of the Conkwell stone circle and other Bronze age features.

The guys who were camping in that stone circle couldn’t had know it was there.

That area is called no-mans land for a reason, I'm sure of that.

Haven't been back since, so don't know if they every came back either, or whether they had just abandoned everything in the night.........

That whole area is ancient and must had supported hundreds of people before the Romans arrived.

There are numerous ghost stories associated with that area. I’m sure that did not help with camping experience when we younger.

When we about ten a friends mother took about 7 of us to see this chap who lived in Turleigh (Not far from Winsley). He knew all the ghost stories for the area. Looking back it was an amazing thing for us to experience. If only I could remember them all.

As well as Ghost Stories there have also been Werewolf stories associated with those woods.

I have never liked that area where Conkwell leads into Warleigh. It just does not feel right. But like I said I expect it’s to do with the stories we were told.

Of course there is also the Story of Sally in Woods. She haunts the road near Warleigh Woods (The A363 to be precise). :D
