But this is exactly the problem MM. Ask most people in the street what they think of when they see a swastika and they will say Hitler/Nazis/Germany etc.

Misappropriation may not be fair but it is a fact with this symbol. For many, many people that is the only association they have and it isn't necessarily their fault. It would be a lovely world to inhabit if everyone was aware of other cultures, their symbols and histories but it isn't the world I live in (sadly)

I see both sides, but it is a fair point! It seems a pity that we have to make allowances, but hey compromise is the nature of the beast.

Hey Vicster

Jane's reference to the whole swastika thing is to do with a guy, Mike Croley - the starman. I don't know the full story but he went around defacing a lot of stones with swastikas, wound a lot of people up on the threads 'trolling', then was extremely offensive to Jane on a thread. Suffice to say he was kicked off TMA. He's known to crop up in different guises now and again...

MM - the fact it's chalk is better than it being paint I suppose but the fact that someone thinks it's ok to scrawl anything on stones is going to encourage others to do the same. Then permanent damage will occur, like the yellow paint at the rollrights, and that would be a very big deal.
