there again i would rather make up words (don't we all) than villify a symbol due to its misappropriation by some or other 'nutter', like the swastika or cross ( kkk, and fundamental xstians) or the crescent of islam (taliban etc) MM

But this is exactly the problem MM. Ask most people in the street what they think of when they see a swastika and they will say Hitler/Nazis/Germany etc.

Misappropriation may not be fair but it is a fact with this symbol. For many, many people that is the only association they have and it isn't necessarily their fault. It would be a lovely world to inhabit if everyone was aware of other cultures, their symbols and histories but it isn't the world I live in (sadly)
