Stonehenge 181

>I stand corrected<

Can we adopt that as the slogan for any re-erected stone ;-)

But you're quite right, I was thinking only of the fallen stones at Stonehenge, not the various 2 and 3-Dimensional reconstructions that have been done over the years for all the stones both present and missing.

The question was, has the original position for all of the fallen stones at Stonehenge been identified and has anyone attempted a computer/graphic reconstruction of how Stonehenge would look if those stones were back in their original positions?

Of ALL the stones, I don't know, but of quite a few yes. They left "footprints" in the chalk base of their stone holes. I'm sure Mike Pitts' "Hengeworld" mentions this, as well at the expensive Stonehenge tome by EH. As long as the stone holes were excavated correctly, then all that is required is to fit the correct stones to the correct "Footprints". Easy, eh? Don't know what all the fuss is about.
