I really reckon that some one should take a look at the area around Durringtons Norman church (close to the river). I grew up in Durrington and Amesbury and always felt that the church could be on an older site - for instance, it's interesting that stones used for the base of the "war memorial" were there well before ww1 (I've seen a photo dating from the late 1800's).
Might go visit the folks this week and take a look at the dig - praps we could hook up Ishmael?

They opened a new trench on Bulford camp around the stray sarsen.
Nice ringed ditch feature around it.
The trench in the south near Woodhenge carpark has uncovered some huge post holes.
