Orkney Trip

Good to read your posts BuckyE, the forum seemed to spring to life - how appropriate at the vernal equinox.

Your Scotland trip sounded panoramic though however wonderful those trips are, they are tiring - if I remember correctly you must have flown in from America (I met you and your wife briefly outside the Red Lion in 2007).

It was good to see Peebles mentioned - I spent a day there during my very first visit to the lowlands of Scotland. It was the first time I saw the fast flowing, crystal clear River Tweed and the lovely little town beside it. I bought my favourite jumper there which oddly enough is a colour described as 'fossil' (thats me).

What wonderful coincidences. Yes, of course we did pop over from here in Maryland on the Right Coast of the USA. That trip to Scotland was the first of many trips Driving the Stone Age, some of which were to meet the Modern Antiquarians.

Although we first met TMAers on the Stone Pages, long ago.

And it was in North Ronaldsay on that first trip I finally found the sweater I had been longing for: handknitted of undied Rare Breeds wools, marvelous shades of charcoal and wood ash. Loie says I look like a standing stone when I wear it.

I take that as a compliment.
