Local Stones

Very interesting but it didn't really put the finger on where the stones had come from.

What interested me was the fact that there had been no trace of human transportation of any stones to the mid south eastern region. To quote Kammer - "Surely the prehistoric Londoners had a similar religion to their neighbours in Wessex (the Medway monuments point to this)."

The site you mentioned was coastal based and relied upon the glacial theories as no human involvement had been found.

I should chuck in the fact that they may have had sites on soft cliff edges and these had collapsed into the sea due to erosion. That would be a whole new journey to take.

But is there much evidence of long distance transportation in Wessex? (apart from Stonehenge, and both the bluestones and the sarsens there may yet be proven to have been found very nearby)

Do you mean the Medway sites? If you do, I can see the 'glacial' thing.

But when you say 'coastal', do you mean at the time they were built?

And surely the 'clifftop' speculation could apply to much of the coastland in many parts of Britain?

I'm not arguing by the way, just exploring (I come from the Medway towns originally).
