You're over-cynical to say that no heritage benefit arises from all these people wanting to take a bit of Thornborough for themselves.

What about the two items that a creep at the detecting rally speedily wacked up on EBay? A lady in Oz bought them from him and gave them to York Museum as she thought that's where they belonged.

Really? That almost makes me feel that all is not lost, for someone to make such a benevolant gesture. That has actually made me feel all warm and fuzzy. If only everyone had such a nature.

Have you seen the York Museum? No space to give even the Roman's a proper display never mind prehistoric Yorkshire. Thornborough does not even get a mention. Maybe York will be inspired by this latest donation?
