Hey Goff - wake up! This is Orkney, - same latitude as Stockholm, Tallinn and St Petersburg. The weather is ALWAYS crap (ie, changable, mostly cold, showers at the drop of a hat, and windy, windy, WINDY). And to even consider camping....! I'd rather hack my head off with a big knife. So unless your middle name is 'Sir Ranulph Fiennes'* book a cottage!

Part of my basecamp came under two feet of water from Saturday pm to about Monday. I recorded the AirSea Rescue helicopter flying through a black cloud - the flash and bang was just after it had come out the other side. We can camp in any weather. I guess this is what it would be like when the Gulf Stream fails !

Same latitude but we do have the Gulf Stream to compensate, else our winters would be 20 below !
