I regard named natural outcrops as of potential archaeological relevence, so long as the names old of course, and not just a place. For example, Jenny Twig and her daughter Tib up in my neck of the woods. My reasoning is that they were possibly on an ancient route.

As to wether they are MA, not sure I'm qualified, but I'd say Jenny and here daughter became significant prior to the Romans. I'm thinking the name Jenny is a variant on Ginny, as in Ginny Green Teeth.

Think that's how you spell it.

Do they need a name? I don't think so. I could show you many a rocky outcrop that has a definite bearing on a site, but which have no names.

If they seem important to us 'modern' folk, then I'm sure they must have seemed important to the Builders.

If you think it's significant then it's worth a mention. that way someone else can look out for it. They may come back and say 'Bollox!', they may come back and 'Wow!'. Whichever it is, it doesn't matter. What matters is that it's been thought about.
