Same might apply for sites with a winter solstice solar alignment.
Well, that's what was in my head. Last week the moon rose in the SW, so it would have lit up Newgrange.

Stoney littleton would seem to have a winter solstice event, something I found out today.... it must come over the ridge facing the entrance.

Hmmm, so all these Winter solstice alignments might actually be Lunar Southern Standstill alignments?! That would put the cat amongst the pigeons...
