You're right about the map scale in the book, it would be nicer to have them larger and with some grid lines or more detail on the map backgrounds so you could figure out whereabouts you were looking. Can't complain too much though as it is an excellent book although I'm a bit worried that even though it a hardback it'll quickly get trashed after a few wet and wild afternoons on the moor.
I've got that little guide leaflet too, I got many miles out of it before I got hold of a photocopy of the original (1986?) carved rocks book. For anybody on a tight schedule it's ideal - and it's only 50p too. :-)

Not many books have grid lines or contours in them because as soon as you do that the Ordnance Survey demand a *very* large chunk of the cover cost. I know of one person who was asked for 10% just for grid lines on one map. He told them to stuff it and didn't use them ...
