Happy to give another plug to "Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding"

The stuff I've been posting recently was from 2000 on a visit using the small guide from the Tourist Info. Better than nothing but confusing. I thought I was at Barmishaw and I was actually at Willy Hall Wood. Had to relabel several of my slides once I'd got the book.

One small criticism, in the more densely decorated areas, such as around Ilkley, the map scale is not detailed enough.

You're right about the map scale in the book, it would be nicer to have them larger and with some grid lines or more detail on the map backgrounds so you could figure out whereabouts you were looking. Can't complain too much though as it is an excellent book although I'm a bit worried that even though it a hardback it'll quickly get trashed after a few wet and wild afternoons on the moor.
I've got that little guide leaflet too, I got many miles out of it before I got hold of a photocopy of the original (1986?) carved rocks book. For anybody on a tight schedule it's ideal - and it's only 50p too. :-)

Hi Greyweather... I've been planning to put a definative map (as far as possible) of Ilkley Moor carved stones together for some time now, as many of them aren't on the OS maps (the Landranger maps anyway). One day soon I may even get round to doing it!!!
