Loie and I have had two Special Access Visits to Stonehenge. The first was several years ago, for sunrise, during Driving the Stone Age III. Last year, during DtSA VI (undertaken to attend the Megameet) we had a Sunset Special Access Visit.

It pretty much teemed rain our whole time on the site, and by about twenty minutes into our hour we were the only two visitors left. We had a nice chat with the guard.

Very atmospheric, being alone in Stonehenge in the English Rain and gathering darkness.

Aye, BuckyE, it really did tip it down while you were here!

What you say about, "...being alone in Stonehenge in the English Rain and gathering darkness" reminds me of Layamon's poem, Brut, of 1215 describing Stonehenge - could be the earliest megalithic poem we have (but it'd be great if there were an earlier one :-)

The stones are great
And magic power they have
Men that are sick
Fare to that stone
And they wash that stone
And with that water bathe away their sickness

Oooh, I am even more excited about it now! We are doing the Sunset Access on the eve of my 40th - it seemed a suitable way to wave goodbye to my 30s and say hello to the next phase! And as for inclement weather; I actually think most sites improve when it is a little gloomy and grey, so I will be happy whatever.
