Avebury Docu

True, in part. Rose glasses allround sofar as doc. was concerned but given what we "know" now would we do differently. Imagine a hypothetical newly found site with international importance, basically intact but situated beneath a rather run down settlement and with huge funds (in our dreams) to excavate, restore, what would we do differently now? With so many pressure groups, would anything at all get done while the site gently detioriated? With hindsight one can criticize Keiller but he possibly saved Avebury from a fate earlier documented by Stukely. P.S. I was there on May eve (quiet) but fabulous morning, very battery charging. Jimit :-)

I've just finished an article for the next 3rd Stone mag on Marden.
If Keiller had not given Avebury a make over it would be much like Marden is today.
For those who don't know about it Marden is the largest Henge in the country only 8 from Avebury & Stonehenge.

For a recent pano.
If I had the sort of cash that Keiller had I would happily restore the whole complex.
