I've just finished an article for the next 3rd Stone mag on Marden.
If Keiller had not given Avebury a make over it would be much like Marden is today.
For those who don't know about it Marden is the largest Henge in the country only 8 from Avebury & Stonehenge.
See

For a recent pano.
If I had the sort of cash that Keiller had I would happily restore the whole complex.

re Pete G.
Not to pre-empt your article, any brief info? Bigger than Durrington Walls,( object lesson in distruction)? where exactly? Thanks.

Marden is mid way between Avebury and Stonehenge.
8 miles from both and they are all in a rough alignment.
The Henge is the largest in the country.
The Hatfield barrow used to be inside the henge but the antiquarian, Cunnington, totaly destroyed it.
I have just got back from there and posted a new pano with glowing dandelions etc.
(See link in my post above)
Very few people know much about it at all, this prompted me to research the place for 3rd Stone with Neil and Brian.
