The style sounds similar to Michael Dames'.

In Mythical Ireland he tends to say X beat up Y and so started a war with Z. No connection is ever made of Z before or afterwards.

I didn't actually realise this as I previously knew a fair bit of the characters and stories he was refering to. My partner pointed it out to me and I had to say "Ooh yeah!"
